The busiest week of Kent Speedway’s season continues this evening with the visit to Central Park of first-time visitors Berwick Bandits.
Yesterday’s British Final at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester saw skipper Scott Nicholls rolling back the years to finish fifth on 10 points, bowing out only in the Last Chance heat. Paul Starke had a frustrating evening and will be looking to bounce back from that disappointment against the side from the Borders.
The match is the TouchTec Kings’ first of four this week – with the ‘Northern Tour’ coming up this weekend taking them to Edinburgh on Friday, the return match at Berwick on Saturday and then Newcastle on Sunday. Additionally, the Iwade Garage Royals also compete at Berwick on Saturday as part of a double header with the two teenagers who feature actually in both sides, Dan Gilkes and Jake Mulford competing individually on Sunday: Dan in the GB U19 Final at Mildenhall (along with opponents from Berwick this evening, Leon Flint & Kyle Bickley) and Jake considerably further afield in Czechia representing Team GB in the World Long Track Cup Challenge.
Back home tonight, the two teams [in alphabetical order] are:
Kent TouchTec Kings: Troy Batchelor; Dan Gilkes; Cameron Heeps; Ben Morley; Jake Mulford; Scott Nicholls; Paul Starke
Berwick Bandits: Kasper Andersen; Kyle Bickley; Jye Etheridge; Leon Flint; Dany Gappmaier; Nikolaj B. Jakobsen; Aaron Summers
The action gets underway at 6.30pm at Central Park (gates open 5pm)
