Following his 4+1 performance in Monday’s (9/7) William O’Keefe has been declared in the Kent SLYDE Kings in place of the outgoing Jacob Clouting. We thank Jacob for his efforts in the 2018 however his struggle for form since his return from injury has seen him be stood down from the team.
The Ipswich born racer began the season with league rivals and indeed next opponents Stoke but was taken out of their side when he sustained an injury and was replaced in their line up by Josh Embleton. In 2017 William made some league appearances for Plymouth but actually made his third tier debut for Mildenhall in 2016 at Central Park. On joining the side William said that he was “very happy to join having just come back from injury. I enjoyed my first match as a guest and I’m looking to score good points for the club in every match.”
The new Boy Wizard of Central Park makes his first appearance as a fully fledged King at Loomer Road on Saturday (14/7) in the second leg of the Knock-Out Cup First Round clash which the Kings go into holding a 22 point lead and it’s a quick fire turnaround as Stoke provide the opposition next Monday (16/7) with William no doubt hoping to provide the magic from the reserve berth. Should the Kings capitalise on their strong position from the first leg of the cup tie against Stoke they will travel to another of O’Keefe’s former clubs Plymouth.
Spurred by his debut against The Warriors O’Keefe had the following to say about facing both his former sides in his opening matches. “There may be a bit of added pressure to do well against my former clubs but I’m going to treat them like any other meeting and do my best.”
