British Speedway is celebrating its 90th. anniversary in 2018. Kent Speedway at Central Park Stadium links the sport's origin with its present and future.
In 1928 W.J. Cearns built the UK's first custom-built dirt-track motorcycle racing stadiums at High Beech in Essex and at Wimbledon; and was responsible as a director of 'International Speedways' for bringing the exciting new sport to venues in towns and cities across the country and introducing the word 'Speedway' to the sporting vocabulary.
In 2018 at Central Park Stadium in Sittingbourne, Cearnsport (run by WJ Cearns' grand-son, Roger Cearns) presents National League Speedway racing every Monday - April to October.
90 years of no brakes, no fear, methanol-fuelled traxcitement and still going strong!
