The Kent SLYDE Kings went into demolition mode at the Brandon stadium on Friday night running out 60-30 over the Coventry Storm in the second part of the home teams double header.
Top scorer was Danny Ayres who only dropped one point to an opponent with a 14+3 score. But the star of the show was undoubtedly Danno Verge who scored a personal best paid 15 (11+4) including a win in Heat 15.
Heat 1 was a shared heat as Storm Guest Tom Perry took the win from Danny Ayres and Luke Bowen, this was followed by a second shared heat in the reserve race as Connor Dwyer took victory over Danno Verge and Luke Clifton. It seemed like the Kings were in for a nervy tight affair at this stage but then they clicked into gear.
a 5-1 heat advantage in the third race for Kent from Danny Ayres and Jack Thomas was what set the Kings on the way to victory. As a second 5-1 quickly arrived in Heat 5 from Ayres and race winner Luke Bowen.
Two shared heats followed with victories for home riders Tom Perry in the sixth race and Liam Carr in the seventh. Carr was to eventually withdraw from the meeting due to a lack of equipment. At this stage the Kings were winning 25-17.
From Heat 8 onwards they really did let rip rattling in Heat advantages. First up was a 5-1 from the two stars of the show Ayres and Verge before a 4-2 in Heat 9 were Callum Walker split winner James Shanes and third placed Luke Clifton. The Kings were now 14 up.
Heat 10 was shared with Tom Perry once again he was unbeaten after three rides, but the Kings recorded 5-1's in Heat's 11 (Bowen and Ayres), 12 (Thomas and Verge), 13 (Bowen and Shanes) and 15 (Verge and Ayres) to run out 60-30 winners. The odd race out being Heat 14 which was once again shared after Luke Clifton took a tumble and was excluded this was the only time a Kent rider failed to score.
Kent's biggest away win of the season, sets them up full of confidence heading into the Second Leg of the Knockout Cup Semi Final on Monday (12/9) at Central Park.
