The most important National League of the season so far is this evening at Central Park, when Kent Iwade Garage Kings need to repeat their early season win at West Row against main title rivals Mildenhall Fen Tigers to keep themselves in the title race.
For the full-strength Royals there are six survivors from that 47-43 win in the Fens in July with skipper Ryan Kinsley (himself an ex-Mildenhall man) back after missing last week’s win over Leicester Lion Cubs and number one Dan Gilkes in sparkling form after recording some super fast winning times against the East Midlanders last Tuesday. Fellow maximum men from then, Alex Spooner and man of the moment Jake Mulford are both in their best form of the season and will need to be against a strong looking Fen Tigers outfit.
The visitors (needing a win to clinch the title for themselves) utilise R/R for the recently retired Luke Ruddick; and as he’s third in their averages (on 7.43) it means all except Jordan Jenkins can take one extra ride to cover for him in the no. 2 berth. That includes the very dangerous Jason Edwards and former Kings’ rider Nathan Ablitt. It all adds up to being a very exciting match and gets underway at 6.30pm this evening with fans urged to arrive early to get their favourite spot – gates open at 5pm.
