New Year, new race day. The 2020 vision for the Kent TouchTec Kings sees the Central Park Stadium-based Speedway side moving up into the Speedway Great Britain Championship [SGBC], the sport’s second tier and this necessitates a change of race night: Mondays (used by the Kings since the sport opened at Central Park in 2013) are not a designated race night for the SGBC.
So appropriately enough, with the new decade beginning as it has on a Wednesday, it’ll be Wednesdays which will be the day for the Kent faithful to get their regular fix of the shale sport – with the new era for the club beginning in April 2020.
The TouchTec Kings’ elevation into the SGBC will mean that it’ll be the first time a club from the county has competed in British Speedway’s second division since the demise of the Canterbury Crusaders all the way back in 1987.
