The emphasis is on the junior side of Speedway at Central Park Stadium on Monday (9th. September) - with the Kent TouchTec Kings away in National League [NL] action up in the Black Country taking on the Cradley Heathens in their final regular league match of the season, there's action for the home fans to enjoy with the Rob Racing-sponsored Futurama.
This is the third staging of this event which has been held bi-annually in 2015, 2017 & now in 2019. The event will feature riders from clubs in the Midland/Southern Development League - including Kent's own James Laker who captained the Kent Kestrels to what was then the Southern DL last season.
James, from near Sandwich, was fourth in the last staging in 2017 and will be hoping to use his greater experience of Central Park than other competitors (the majority of whom will be riding the circuit for the first time) will stand him in good stead.
The runner up from two years ago William O'Keefe (a former Kings' rider) will be many people's ante-post favourite to take the spoils, alongside the Isle of Wight's Jamie Sealey who has a lot of NL experience and the unattached Russell Barnett, who is the senior rider in the field having ridden third tier Speedway back in pre NL-days for Carmarthen in his native Wales.
The successful formation this year of the Crayford Kestrels Amateur Club (bringing back a famous Kentish Speedway club name of old) is acknowledged with Josh Couzins representing the Kestrels - Josh is the younger brother of former Kent Kings rider, Jamie Couzins.
