The Kent TouchTec Kings return in triumph after their heroics up in Manchester last week to compete in the third and deciding leg of the Silver Ski Holidays Fours at Central Park today [Monday 5th. August].
The awesome foursome who brought back the National League [NL] points with that heroic win over the Belle Vue Colts at the National Speedway Stadium [NSS] on Thursday are back looking to win the second of the three legs of this new four team tournament sponsored by leading French Alpine catered chalet-based skiing holiday company, Silver Ski.
Stand-in skipper Jordan Jenkins has had a memorable week for sure - skippering the Kings to the win which put them back in poll position to make the NL Play Offs, getting selected alongside team mates Drew Kemp (the maximum man up at the NSS), Dan Gilkes and Anders Rowe (plus currently injured Alex Spooner) for the GB Under-19s Championship meeting at Redcar Speedway later this month and on Sunday being announced as a new reserve in the SGB Championship for the Birmingham Brummies.
There's a late change for the 'select' side sponsored by Aylesham-based building company, Breem Construction - with the 'Stars' having lost to injury former Kent Kings' rider, Connor Coles. The NL Fours winning rider got injured riding at his current home track Stoke on Saturday (with the Potters succumbing to Leicester Lion Cubs who as a result supplanted the Kings for the time being at the top of the NL). Coming in to replace Coles [and line up alongside Leicester's Danyon Hume, former Kings' man Luke Harris and Kentish racing legend (and club rider coach), Paul Hurry] will be Australian State Championship rider, Matt Marson .
The two south-coast NL sides occupying positions 1 and 2 on an aggregate basis currently, Plymouth & Isle of Wight have no selection issues - and feature between them three former Kings; Nathan Stoneman (now back with Plymouth); and Warriors' pairing Danno Verge and Ben Morley. Also in the Gladiators' side is another hero from the 45-44 win at Belle Vue, twice a recent Guest for the TouchTec Kings, David Wallinger.
