It's a Fenlands Friday for Kent SLYDE Kings and their fasts today as the Sittingbourne-based club head to Suffolk to take on unbeaten Mildenhall in the first leg of the Travel Plus Tours National League [TPTNL] semi final (7.30pm start time).
There's an added Kentish dimension to the line up with Maidstone-based Georgie Wood 'guesting' at number one for the Kings - standing in for fellow Man Of Kent, Paul Hurry (the former GB World Cup man hoping to be back for the second leg at Central Park on Monday after back and knee injuries).
The other change from Kent's last track outing (last Monday in the semi of the other competition the Kings are contesting the latter stages of, the 2018 Knock-out Cup) is Jamie Couzins coming in at reserve. Birthday boy Couzins who turned 23 yesterday is Faversham-born and Kent Kings through and through and will be looking forward to meeting the challenge of filling the vital reserve berth alongside in-form Alex Spooner as Chris Hunt's charges look to put in an important first leg performance in an attempt to displace the Fen Tigers from the Play Offs and reach a Final against either Coventry or Eastbourne.
It is a depleted Mildenhall side needing to use Rider Replacement for head injury victim Josh Bailey and drafting in Ben Morley as 'Guest' for missing fellow former Kent Kings' favourite Danny Ayres, out for the rest of the season after surgery on a shattered wrist.
Teams [in alphabetical order]: Mildenhall Fen Tigers: Sam Bebee; Jordan Jenkins; Drew Kemp; Ryan Kinsley; Matt Marson; Ben Morley [G]; Rider Replacement for Josh Bailey; no. 8 tba
Kent SLYDE KIngs: Jamie Couzins; Taylor Hampshire; Anders Rowe; Alex Spooner; Nathan Stoneman; Jack Thomas; Georgie Wood [G]
Those travelling are advised it'll take a little longer to get to West Row on the very last stretch of the journey with three way traffic lights due to road works on a stretch of the A1101 going through Mildenhall town. The start time at West Row is 7.30pm.
