The song lyric goes, "Wake me up when September comes.." Well, there's no chance of Kent supporters nodding off in what's an incredibly busy rest of August for sure, but the fixture update for next month certainly means it's an equally super September on the way!
The first fixture added to the list is on the first of the month - when the rearranged Travel Plus Tours National League [TPTNL] match away to local rivals Eastbourne Eagles finally gets raced. The SLYDE Kings' local rivals' hosting of the TPTNL fixture at Arlington was called off back in June after the National Trophy fixture between the two sides was rained off the previous month. No new date has been set until now and the 1st. September match against the Eagles will be the first opportunity for Kings' fans to see their rivals' recent German signing, Ethan Spiller.
It's also serving as the perfect hors d'oeuvre for the tasty treat of the Knock-out Cup Semi-final between the two sides which are now confirmed for Monday 24th. Sept. first leg at Central Park Stadium and the second leg is away at Eastbourne on Saturday 29th.Sept.
The other dates added to the calendar for September are the 6th. annual staging of the Kent Laurels - the individual championship for the WJ Cearns Memorial Trophy on September 10th.; and the following Monday (17/9) sees a the Tunnel Trophy match against a 'Select' side from the Lakeside Hammers club. Lakeside riders from their SGB Championship table-topping side Alfie Bowtell and former Kent Kings' captain Ben Morley will be bringing a select side also including young protege Jason Edwards to Central Park for what's sure to be a very closely contested fixture.
As another song lyric goes, "See you in September" for these fixtures:
Saturday 1st. Sept. AWAY Eastbourne (TPTNL)
Monday3rd. Sept, HOME Mildenhall (TPTNL)
Monday 10th. Sept. HOME Kent Laurels for the WJ Cearns Trophy (Indiv.)
